Accessibility

Tudor Place is dedicated to providing a pleasant experience for all who come to visit. We offer a number of services to assist people as they access the historic house and garden, both onsite and online.

On-Site

Touring the Historic House

Ramps are available to provide access to the first floor of the historic house. Please call ahead to arrange this service. For those who cannot climb stairs, a binder is available with pictures and information about the second floor. There is also a virtual tour available.  For HOH/Deaf or non-verbal guests, white boards and dry erase markers are available for communicating. Printed versions of the historic house tour are available in English and several other languages. We have sound blocking headphones for use during educational programs.

The Garden

The garden is accessible from the city sidewalk (without steps). Its surfaces consist of grassy areas and paths laid with pea gravel, flagstone, bricks and stones set in grass.

Service Animals

Service dogs are welcome at Tudor Place. Emotional support animals are not allowed on-site. Pets are not allowed on-site.

Online

Virtual Tour

Tour both floors of the historic house from the comfort of your own home. Click on objects within the virtual tour to learn more about the lives of the people who lived and worked at Tudor Place.

FAQ: Frequently Asked Questions

WHAT ARE YOUR HOURS?

Tuesday through Saturday 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. and Sunday Noon – 4 p.m. Guided tours of historic house start on the hour.  Last tour starts at 3 p.m.  Tours last approximately 50 minutes.

WHAT ARE YOUR CURRENT HEALTH & SAFETY GUIDELINES?

HEALTH MONITORING. Stay home if you are not feeling well, experiencing symptoms of Covid-19 or have had known exposure to the virus.
MASK OPTIONAL. Visitors and staff are welcome, but not required, to wear a mask in indoor or outdoor spaces.

WHERE CAN I PARK?

Tudor Place is located at 1644 31st Street, NW in Washington, DC.  The main entrance is on 31st Street, NW between Q & R Streets, NW in Georgetown. 1. Street parking is available in the neighborhood without a Zone 2 sticker free for two hours Monday through Saturday. Street parking on Sunday is free. For driving directions to Tudor Place, click here.  If you ride your bike or scooter to Tudor Place, park and lock it at one of the bike racks outside the front gate.

CAN I TOUR THE HISTORIC HOUSE?

Yes. Guided tours of the historic house are offered on the hour.  Ticket includes garden access following a guided tour of the historic house. Last tour starts at 3:00 p.m. Visitors for the 3:00 p.m. tour should plan to view the gardens before the tour. Suggested donation $10/ticket. Advance registration is encouraged.

Self-guided tours of the historic house are not available.

HOW LONG SHOULD I EXPECT TO SPEND AT TUDOR PLACE?

Guided tours of the Historic House last approximately 50 minutes. Garden visits can range from an hour or two or as your schedule permits.

IS PHOTOGRAPHY ALLOWED?

Yes, personal photography is encouraged.

Flash photography, tripods and selfie sticks are not permitted in the historic house. Photography shoots require advanced notice and a permit. Click here for additional information. Call 202-965-0400 or email events@tudorplace.org.

CAN I BRING FOOD ON SITE?

Guests are encouraged to bring water, as there is no water fountain available on site.  Picnics are welcome on the grounds and in the garden.  Be sure to remove all trash. Trash receptacles are not provided. Bring mats, blankets or a camp chair. Due to the historic landscape, games, chairs with legs, blow up furniture, etc. are not permitted.

ARE RESTROOMS AVAILABLE ON SITE?

Yes. There is a restroom available inside the Visitor’s Center, one on the west side of the Historic House near the smokehouse and another located to the far right of the garage building.

WILL VISITORS WITH CHILDREN BE ABLE TO VISIT?

History is for everyone.  All ages are welcome. A historic artifact scavenger hunt is available for children to do during the tour.  There is a garden adventure map for kids (of all ages) as well.  Go along at your own pace and find hidden treasures in plain sight.

CAN I BRING MY STROLLER?

Strollers are permitted on the grounds in the garden. Note that the garden surfaces consist of grassy areas and paths laid with pea gravel, flagstone, bricks and stones set in grass .

Strollers are not permitted on historic house tours; strollers can be folded and stored outside the Visitor Center entrance.

CAN GROUPS VISIT?

Yes. We welcome groups to Tudor Place to join in a scheduled guided tour of the historic house or for private tours. Groups of 5 people or more, requires prior arrangement.  Call 202-965-0400 or email events@tudorplace.org.

CAN I RENT THE SITE FOR A PRIVATE EVENT?

Yes.  We would be delighted to host your special event.  Tudor Place offers unique and intimate settings perfect for weddings and special occasions. Click here for additional information or call 202-580-7331 or email events@tudorplace.org.

DO YOU HAVE A CAFÉ?

No. There is no cafe on site. However, Tudor Place is nestled in the heart of Georgetown, a vibrant and bustling neighborhood.  Many cafes, restaurants and shops are a short walking distance to Wisconsin Avenue, NW (two blocks west) or M Street, NW (six blocks south).
