Washington, D.C. — Tudor Place Historic House & Garden marks America 250 and celebrates the legacy and lineage of its founding to the founding of our country.

At its annual Spring Garden Party on Wednesday, May 20, Tudor Place Foundation Board of Trustees, along with event Co-Chairs LouLou Baker and Claire Wilder, invite guests to view the commemorative exhibition “Founding Fortunes: The Estate Sale of Martha Washington” while toasting the museum’s important contributions to the region’s cultural landscape.

Now in its 34th year, Tudor Place’s Spring Garden Party is the institution’s largest fundraiser of the year, raising nearly 20% of Tudor Place’s annual operating revenue. Proceeds support conservation of more than 18,000 historic objects and works of art, preservation of the 5 ½ acre garden which is free and open to the public, as well as dynamic educational programming for all ages, including DC Public Schools students and Girl Scout troops.

Each year, Tudor Place’s Spring Garden Party honors a person and/or business who has demonstrated inspirational commitment to Tudor Place, Georgetown and the region’s cultural community. This year the organization posthumously honors C. Braxton Moncure, a long-serving member of the Tudor Place Board of Trustees and dedicated patron of the decorative and textile arts. Braxton spent his career running the accounting firm Ross & Moncure, Inc. Since 1981, Braxton and his wife Debbie restored waterfront property in Jamaica and assembled a renowned collection of colonial Jamaican furniture, featured in V&A Museum magazine. He also served as Trustee of the Rita Adrosko Charitable Trust.

“We are honored to recognize Mr. Braxton Moncure, a former board member and devoted supporter of Tudor Place. We gather to celebrate his incredible life, his commitment to the arts and history and his remarkable ability to build bridges across diverse communities throughout the National Capital Region, in Jamaica, and beyond,” said Board President Dr. Christy Pichichero.

The 2026 Tudor Place Spring Garden Party is generously supported by lead investors Washington Fine Properties, Prince Charitable Trust, Tuckernuck and first-time sponsor Stachowski’s Market.
