The Pierce-Arrow Roadster

The Peter family’s 1919 Pierce-Arrow 48-B5 Roadster is one of the collection’s largest and most memorable objects. A custom vehicle, it was purchased by Armistead Peter Jr., and his wife Anna Williams (“Nannie”) Peter for their 23-year old son, Armistead 3rd.

The family owned a series of Pierce-Arrow cars in the early 20th century, but this proved to be Armistead 3rd’s favorite and was the only car the family retained. Mr. Peter had the vehicle restored in the 1970s and many longtime residents of Georgetown recall seeing him driving it after that restoration. The Brewster company fabricated the body which includes many custom elements and Mr. Peter’s monogram.
