Civil War Washington – Teacher Professional Development

July 6 - July 11

In this week-long institute, designed for K-12 teachers, connect with peers to illuminate new perspective and under-told stories. Explore historic sites and collect a wealth of resources.  Gain tools to help students grapple with histories whose legacies matter today.  Hosted by the Civil War Washington Consortium, who are committed to investigating the Civil War in all its complexity and seek applicants with diverse experiences who bring a variety of perspectives to the week of learning.

Teachers/Educators: FREE. Participants must pay a $100 refundable deposit to secure their place in the institute. Deposits are refunded upon successful completion of the program.

Consortium Members = Ford’s Theater, Tudor Place Historic House & Garden, Frederick Douglass’ Home at Cedar Hill and President Lincoln’s Cottage.
