Resources for Field Trip Experiences

Working with local educators and DMV schools, Tudor Place offers field trip experiences, classroom activities and teacher resources to support the curriculum objectives through a history covering six generations (1805-1988) through the use of collections, archives, historic buildings and grounds. Contact us for classroom support, on-site visits and collaborative curriculum related to the early 18th through 20th centuries. These complementary resources are available to use pre-visit and post-visit to Tudor Place. A dynamic week long learning experience for educators of grades K-12. In this week-long institute, teachers connect with peers to illuminate new perspective and under-told stories. Explore historic sites and collect a wealth of resources.  Gain tools to help students grapple with histories whose legacies matter today.  Hosted by the Civil War Washington Consortium, who are committed to investigating the Civil War in all its complexity and seek applicants with diverse experiences who bring a variety of perspectives to the week of learning.

  • Access a wealth of resources and primary sources to use in your classroom.
  • Improve historical thinking skills and gain confidence tackling historical complexities. Gain a new perspective on the capital city.
  • Forge lasting connections with peer educators. Network with museum educators to help support your students with site-specific learning.
  • Reflect on your personal understanding of the Civil War and its impact on your teaching.
  • Successful completion of the program certifies 36 hours of professional development; Graduate credit is available through Trinity University Washington: three (3) credits for $375.

COST: FREE.  Teachers/educators must pay a $100 refundable deposit to secure their place in the institute. Deposits are refunded upon successful completion of the program.
