Tudor Place: Washington, DC Historic House & Garden

Welcome to Tudor Place Historic House & Garden, a National Historic Landmark. In 1966, Armistead Peter 3rd’s love of the trees, architecture and collections of Tudor Place inspired him to ensure their protection through the conveyance of an easement and the establishment of a foundation dedicated to the perpetual care of his family’s home. The family home and surrounding garden were opened to the public in October 1988. Today, visitors are welcome to tour the family home as a historic house museum and the surrounding 5 ½ acres. To learn more about enslavement at Tudor Place, click here.

Historic House Exhibition

First timed entry at 10:00 a.m. Last timed entry 3:00-3:30 p.m. Guests with a 3:00 p.m. timed entry slot should plan to view the garden before the exhibit. Entry to the garden after 3:30 p.m. is not permitted. The grounds close at 4:00 p.m. To ensure that all visitors have an engaging experience, entry size is limited. Groups of ten (10) people or more require prior arrangement for booking availability and a per person fee. Walk in visitors will be accommodated as space allows.

Founding Fortunes The Estate Sale of Martha Washington

On view beginning February 11, discover the story behind an estate sale of historic proportions in a special exhibition experience, Founding Fortunes: The Estate Sale of Martha Washington. Displaying several artifacts together for the first time, the exhibition explores what George and Martha Washington’s worldly belongings, and the people who desired them, reveal about the values and divisions of early American society.
