Of all the skilled craftsmen that constructed the center block of Tudor Place in 1816, only one was recorded: enslaved plaster artisan Sam Collins. Learn about his life, how he obtained his freedom and succeeded at establishing a family in Georgetown. Join Tudor Place Curator Rob DeHart, who considers the contributions of Black craftsman and how enslavers profited from their labors.
Rob DeHart has served as curator at Tudor Place since 2021. He obtained his MA in Public History from Middle Tennessee State University and worked on numerous award-winning exhibitions and projects during his tenure as a history curator at the Tennessee State Museum in Nashville. He also volunteers as a peer reviewer for the American Alliance of Museums.
