TUDOR PLACE | Open weekends.  Click for info.

If you have an interest in American history, architecture, historical objects, books and manuscripts, gardens, flowers and more – Tudor Place is looking for you! We would be delighted to have you join the Tudor Place family of volunteers. Whether you help in the garden, lead house tours, decorate for the holiday season, assist with special events and Visitor Services, or work in the Museum Shop, there are many ways to apply your talents while making new friends who share your enthusiasm. Schedules can be arranged according to your availability.

Volunteers join in optional enrichment programs arranged exclusively for them, including group outings, and special tours by staff and outside experts. Become a docent or volunteer today. For these opportunities and general information about volunteering, contact us by email or call 202-965-0400.

Be a Docent

Comprehensive training is provided for this hands on, interactive story-telling position, so you can engage guests with information about the family, artifacts, and architectural history of this important estate that has witnessed the growth of our country. Hours are flexible and parking is provided.

Lead Garden Tours

Love gardening and nature? Become an expert on special topics like local agricultural history and the garden’s trees, shrubs, and perennial and annual plants. Engage guests with information and stories about the evolution and continued preservation of this garden.

Work in the Garden

Team up with the Tudor Place gardeners for weeding, deadheading, seed collecting, nursery management, mulching and pruning on Wednesdays (1:30–3:30 p.m.) and Fridays (9:30-11:30 a.m.). Work in groups and independently.
